The applicant must:
1. Be a member of a Presbyterian Church (USA).
2. Be under the care of a Presbytery as a Candidate/Inquirer.
3. Possess qualities of excellence for ministry.
4. Be a senior enrolled in one of the following 10 Presbyterian Theological Institutions: Austin Seminary, Columbia Seminary, Dubuque Seminary, Johnson C. Smith Seminary, Louisville Seminary, McCormick Seminary, Pittsburgh Seminary, Princeton Seminary, San Francisco Seminary or Union Seminary/PSCE in VA.
5. Be currently serving or will serve in a small Presbyterian church for at least five years within the 13-state area served by the Foundation. The understanding is that should this requirement is not fulfilled; the grant will be paid back without interest in a manner to be negotiated with the Foundation.
The applicant must:
1. Complete an application form supplied by the Foundation. It shall be in typewritten or computer generated form and must be completely filled out, including an original signature on the waiver. No handwritten applications will be considered.
2. Provide the Foundation with the official transcript(s) of his/her college and seminary academic records to date.
3. Provide names and current address for all references requested.
4. It is the applicant's responsibility to check on the status of his/her application, including the references' responses.
It is to be understood by the applicant that this is a one-year, non-renewable grant, the amount of which will be determined annually by the Apollos Committee of the Foundation.
Applications are due in the Foundation office no later than May 1 of the year of application. References must be received by June 1. Recipients will be selected by August 1 with notification as soon as possible after that.
