T H E    M A R I L Y N    A.    J A C K S O N   MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

 

Mrs. Marilyn A. Jackson, a member of the Center Ridge Presbyterian Church, Red Oak, Iowa, left a bequest in her will with instructions that the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation establish a scholarship "to provide support for pastoral leadership to persons who are or will be serving small Presbyterian churches at least five years.  A first preference will be given for racial ethnic and minority students from the Synods of Lakes and Prairies, Mid-America, Rocky Mountain and the Sun." 

These four synods are located in the 13-state region which is served by the Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation. These states include:  Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

E L I G I B I L I T Y    R E Q U I R E M E N T S

The applicant must:
    1. Be a member of a Presbyterian Church (USA).

    2. Be under the care of a Presbytery as either a Candidate or Inquirer.

    3. Possess qualities of excellence for ministry.

    4. Be a senior seminary student enrolled in one of the following 10 Presbyterian theological institutions: Austin Seminary, Columbia Seminary, Dubuque Seminary, Johnson C. Smith Seminary, Louisville Seminary, McCormick Seminary, Pittsburgh Seminary, Princeton Seminary, San Francisco Seminary or Union Seminary in Virginia.

    5. Be currently serving or will serve in a small Presbyterian church for at least five years within the 13-state area served by the Foundation.    These states include:  Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

A P P L I C A T I O N    R E Q U I R E M E N T S

The applicant must:

    1. Complete an Apollos application form supplied by the Foundation. It shall be in typewritten or computer generated form and must be completely filled out.  The privacy waiver must have an original signature and must be postmarked by April 30th.   No handwritten applications will be considered.

    2. Provide official transcript(s) of your college and/or seminary academic records to date.

    3. Provide names and contact information for your references as requested.

    4. Check with your references so that their confidential responses are submitted in a timely manner and postmarked by April 30th.

All applications and reference responses must be received or postmarked by April 30th.

Notification letters will be mailed on or before August 1 to all applicants.
